Saturday, January 26, 2019 was Orientation Day for our new HCOP student participants, and it was a successful day! Participants and relatives had the opportunity to kick off the 2018-2019 Health Careers Ambassador Program by learning about the history of Creighton University's Pipeline to Success - Health Careers Opportunity Program, the program's community partners, and the program's mission, vision and purpose.
Orientation Day commenced at 9:00 A.M. with a check-in and registration session led by the HCOP Program Coordinator/Data Manager, Isaac Inkabi.
Students received their orientation packets, name tags and had their picture taken for their Pipeline to Success - HCOP IDs.
Followed by that was a welcome message from the HCOP Program Supervisor, Aminatu Issaka, thanking all participants and their relatives for completing the admission process and attending orientation. She introduced the Pipeline to Success Health Careers Ambassador Program and gave a brief history about the program at Creighton University.
Participants and their relatives were treated to a continental breakfast during the welcome and registration portion of the orientation. Staff members had the opportunity to introduce themselves, and students participated in several icebreaker activities in order to get to know each other a little better.
After the review of the program rules and regulations, the HCOP Academic Success Counselor, Christina Jelinek, spoke to the students on her role as the Academic Success Counselor. To bring a nice close to the day's activities, students and relatives had a chance to ask questions and participate in an exciting game of Kahoot!
Here is the game we played at the end of orientation! Feel free to try it!
