HCOP Gets Financial! Financial Aid Day - October 23, 2021

At HCOP, our goal is to help remove barriers that stand between our students and their goals. For many students, college access isn’t a question of being accepted into the college of their choice, but rather a question of being able to afford tuition. To this end, two financial aid workshops were held during HCOP’s second session on October 23, 2021.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2022-2023 school year opened on October 1st, and HCOP’s financial aid workshops were geared toward helping students understand all avenues for obtaining funding for college.

The undergraduate financial aid workshop was geared toward ensuring that students understand the new deadlines for the FAFSA and helping them to know their options in terms of grants, scholarships, and loans as they go forward in their college careers.

The high school financial aid workshop was led in partnership with EducationQuest, a local non-profit organization dedicated to making college access feasible for as many students as possible. Students learned about the FAFSA, how and when to start applying for scholarships, and were able to ask questions regarding scholarship application tips and college admissions as well.

Armed with complete knowledge of the financial aid landscape, HCOP strives to help students feel confident in their understanding of the process and to help to remove the financial barrier to college and beyond.
