HCOP Session 6 - December 7, 2019

Updated: Dec 12, 2019

Mrs. Diane Ulmer, OTR/L (Spinal Cord Injury Program Manager) from Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals joined the 2019 – 2020 Health Careers Ambassador Program cohort of students to share why Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals remains a national leader in rehabilitation through state-of-the-art innovation, education and generosity for adults and children who have suffered a stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury or complex medical issue. She discussed with the group the importance of a holistic rehabilitative care approach as well as the importance of interdisciplinary care plans where a team of health professionals from different fields work together to provide the best care/outcome for the patient. The absolute best portion of the presentation was that of the numerous “success stories” and the details surrounding the journey of each patient. Students flooded the room with questions/comments and were truly intrigued by the impact Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals is making in the lives of many.

Saturday, December 7, 2019 marked the last HCOP session of the year and decade – and what better way to close out the year than with a PIZZA PARTY!! Shortly after the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals presentation, students threw on their student-designed HCOP T-shirts, got into their mentoring groups and grabbed a couple of slices of pizza. HCOP’s Mentor-Mentee Social allows for mentoring groups to come together, discuss topics as group, engage with other mentoring groups and most importantly, have a bit of fun (check out the slideshow of pics below)!!

Good luck to all taking final exams this week and see each of you in the New Year!
