On October 11th, 2019, twelve (12) HCOP undergraduate and high school students attended a field trip to Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals’ Omaha campus.
The day started out with an extensive tour of the hospital, with frequent stops to explain the various stages a patient goes through as they work through the process of rehabilitation. Students were able to see the assistive technology used in the rehabilitation "gym" as well as areas used to help patients re-learn to use the kitchen, to drive, and to shop for groceries, among other things.
After the tour, students had the opportunity to ask an occupational therapist and a physical therapist about their jobs, their roles in the hospital, and what steps they took along their journey to becoming a health professional.
