OneWorld Community Health Centers, Inc. – “All Are Welcome!”

On Saturday, December 18, 2021, OneWorld Community Health Centers, Inc.(located in Omaha, Nebraska) and its Chief Operating Officer (COO), Mr. Joel Dougherty, joined HCOP in a virtual space along with fifty (50) HCOP high school, undergraduate, and health professional students to learn more about the day-to-day operations of a community health center, federal funding acquired by the organization, and many of its accomplishments surrounding the overall health outcomes of the community it serves.

What makes OneWorld Community Health Centers, Inc. exceptional is that is a federally-qualified health center (FQHC) which by definition is a community-based organization that provides comprehensive primary care and preventive care, including health, oral, and mental health/substance abuse services in underserved areas to persons of all ages, regardless of their ability to pay or health insurance status.

Therefore, in short…ALL ARE WELCOME!!!

OneWorld Community Health Centers, Inc. believes that everyone deserves access to the best health care possible, regardless of economic or insurance status. They focus on meeting the primary health care needs (including dentistry and behavioral health) of the community, and maintain an open-door policy, providing treatment regardless of an individual’s income, insurance coverage, without differentiation or consideration of race, sex, disability, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, immigration status or ability to pay.

As an added bonus, to join the virtual conversation was Dr. Jeremy Howe – a family practice physician and public health expert that serves the patient population at OneWorld Community Health Centers, Inc. located in Omaha, Nebraska. As a health professional, Dr. Howe enthusiastically shared with the HCOP team and students his journey in becoming a medical doctor (education, work experience, volunteerism, etc.) and the ‘recipe’ to keep persevering while muting the nay-sayers along the journey to career success.

A huge KUDOS and appreciation to OneWorld Community Health Centers, Inc. for being an official Creighton University Pipeline to Success – Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) community partner and joining us for yet another HCOP session!!!
